Products

Fruit achar cannot be made all year, which is the whole reason it tastes the way it does. Kul arrives for a few weeks in winter. Chalta has its own short window. Raw mango belongs to early summer. We make each one when the fruit is at its best and stop when it is not.

Seasonal by necessity, not by marketing

Short windows

Bought at the peak

Each fruit gets a few weeks. We buy then, make the batch then, and sell it until it runs out.

Short recipes

The fruit does the work

Because the produce is good, the recipes stay simple — sugar to balance, whole spices for warmth, and time for the two to meet.

No stand-ins

No pulp, no concentrate

We do not make winter fruit from cold storage or imported pulp to keep a product listed year-round.

What is in this range

JarSeasonCharacter
Jujube pickle (kuler achar)WinterSweet, with a tang at the end. Whole fruit.
Elephant apple pickle (chalta achar)WinterFirmer and fruitier, mildly spiced.
Sun-dried mango pickleEarly summerThe tangy one, with a proper chew.
If you have never eaten chalta

Elephant apple is astringent and unfriendly raw, and excellent pickled sweet. It tastes like nothing else on this page. Start with a small spoon on its own before you pair it with anything.

Fruit pickle questions

Are fruit pickles sweet or sour?

Both, in different proportions. Kuler achar and chalta achar lean sweet with a sour finish; the sun-dried mango leans firmly sour with a hint of sweetness to balance. None of them is sweet the way a jam is — there is always spice underneath.

When are they in stock?

Kul and chalta are winter jars, made once a year. Mango is made in early summer but keeps well, so it is usually available for longer. If a product page shows stock, we have it.

Can I eat these on their own?

Yes, and most people do. Sweet fruit achar is traditionally served at the end of a Bengali meal with plain rice, but it works spooned over curd, alongside khichdi, or straight from the jar.

Do they contain preservatives?

No. Sugar, salt and in some jars mustard oil do the preserving. No sodium benzoate, no artificial colour, no essence.
