Where do you ship?
Across India. We do not ship internationally at the moment.
How long will my order take?
We dispatch within 24 hours of your order. Orders placed on Sundays and public holidays go out the next working day. Delivery is usually 2 to 4 days in Kolkata and West Bengal, 3 to 6 days to metro cities and 5 to 9 days elsewhere. Full detail is in our shipping policy.
Is shipping free?
Yes, on orders above ₹599. Below that, the cheapest courier rate for your PIN code is shown at checkout before you pay.
How can I pay?
Online, through Cashfree’s secure checkout. UPI, cards and net banking all work. We do not offer Cash on Delivery at the moment.
The pickles
Do you use preservatives?
No. No chemical preservatives, no vinegar, no artificial colour. Our pickles are preserved the traditional way, in oil and salt, with sun-drying and resting doing the work.
How long does a jar last?
Nine months from the packing date unopened. Once opened, refrigerate it and always use a dry spoon. Moisture is what spoils a pickle, not time.
Why does my jar look different from the photograph?
Because it is handmade with seasonal produce. Colour, texture and intensity vary between batches. It is not a defect.
What oil do you use?
Cold-pressed mustard oil, in every pickle we make.
Are they very spicy?
Less than people expect. The green chilli pickle is the hottest thing we make and even that builds over a few seconds rather than hitting at once. Sweet jars like kuler achar have only a trace of heat.
Do they contain allergens?
Every pickle contains mustard oil, and most contain mustard seeds. They are prepared in a kitchen that handles other spices. Full ingredients are listed on each product page, read them if you have an allergy.
Are your pickles vegetarian?
All except one. Our Chicken Pickle is non-vegetarian and is made on separate equipment from the vegetarian range. Every other pickle we make is vegetarian. Each product page shows the veg or non-veg mark next to the price, so you can check before you buy.
Sizes and pricing
What sizes do you sell?
Every pickle comes in 200 g and 500 g. If you are trying us for the first time, start with 200 g.
Do you do bulk or gifting orders?
Yes. Write to hello@theflavorchapter.com with quantities and we will come back with pricing.
Problems
My jar arrived broken.
Send us photographs of the jar, the packaging and the shipping label within 48 hours of delivery and we will send you a free replacement. See the refund policy.
Can I cancel my order?
Yes, any time before it is dispatched. Email or call us with your order number.
